Reteach, Reinforce, Recognize and RESPECT
For the month of March, we are continuing to focus on RESPECT. As a collective team, we can prioritize reteaching, modeling, highlighting, and acknowledging respect at the Bay and our community. This includes crucial conversation at home.
Respect is an action: We show respect; we act respectfully; we speak with respect.
Listen and be present
Be thoughtful of others' feelings.
Acknowledge others and say thank you.
Address mistakes with kindness.
Make decisions based on what's right, not who you like.
Respect physical boundaries

Growing the LOVE of Reading at the Bay!
Here are what students are saying,
“One thing that has motivated me to read this year is when my teacher helped me pick out a book, and I actually really liked it! It’s all about finding the right book.”
“The big difference this year is that I am able to choose my own book and read it. That has been the best change for me because I can pick what I like and find what interests me."
“I like how my teacher meets with me individually about my book and if I don’t understand he will put it in a different way to help me learn it.”
PTSO Social on March 15

Social Media: SNAPCHAT
Here at the Bay we have become aware of a school group Snapchat, where students are sharing photos of others without asking first. This situation is tricky for us to monitor, especially figuring out who's behind the account or group. We're reaching out to keep the chat going about using social media wisely and respectfully. Sharing photos without consent isn't cool—it's actually a form of harassment. Let's all make an effort to keep our online spaces safe and respectful for everyone.
CYBERBULLYING
- Spreading lies about or posting embarrassing photos or videos of someone on social media
- Sending hurtful, abusive or threatening messages, images or videos via messaging platforms
- Impersonating someone and sending mean messages to others on their behalf or through fake accounts.
Cell phones, texts, and social media in schools contribute to rumors and fear. Cyberbullying can create a disruptive environment at school and is often related to in-person bullying.
Attendance/Tardies/Skipping
It is important for students to attend school all day, every day. We are aiming to improve attendance and motivate students to attend school by providing high quality, engaging instruction, a positive school culture, and a focus on positive relationships. We recognize that there are sometimes barriers to school attendance.
Please contact our school attendance secretary or school counselors if you need help improving your child’s school attendance. For students with excessive absences, we are required to report it to the state truancy board to develop an agreement and plan for improvement. This may result in additional court hearings.
*Students may be assigned 1-2hrs in an After school Restorative Circle (ARC) for records of excessive tardies and skipping.
